but the grinch, who lived just north of who-ville, did not!

at the risk of being censored or deleted i have to ask this:.
why is a thread that asks people's opinions about someone popular on this board locked and the poster warned that if he does it again, he'll be deleted?.
i agree that the poster who started the thread is a little antagonistic at times, but i saw nothing that warranted locking the thread or warning the poster of deletion.
Why not just send this question privately to Simon or one of the Forum Administraitors? Why cause more controversy?
Just wondering?

all who would like barbara to know that we are very appreciative of what she is doing and realize that the delays
must be more difficult for her than anyone else, please raise your hands.
those who disagree with these sentiments, please have the good manners to stay out of this thread.
Barbara,
I have the deepest admiration for you. Because of what you and Bill Bowen did my husbands eyes have been opened to the imperfection of the WTS and that they are just as bad as the other organisations they claim to be better than.
Big hugs,
Chrystal
if the big news is legit, someone will file suit and win.. if it is the big snooze one of the above will not happen.
nothing we do or say here will bear on the outcome of the above.
if you think it is the big news, by all means promote it as such.
What I don't understand is why people are getting so upset about this news. Whether it means something to you or not!
No one really knows what may come of this..but what we do know is that a major university has felt this Tort fit to print. They aren't being the usual frady cats when it comes to the JW's. Someone actually got up off their butts and did something - which is more than most of us on this discussion forum have ever done.
There are a handful of very ardent activists who I would break bread with anytime.
I know this is a free country but that doesn't mean that you should say anything and everything that pops into your mind. Isn't it okay to just be quiet and wait for a couple of days or weeks to see what happens from this? Why can't people just be nice instead of writing whatever they feel?
And for those of you who will invariably say...I lived under the watchtower rule for _______years of my life - I can say whatever I want now. Did you forget about being kind and doing unto others since you left the WTS? Would you like to see 10 or 20 forum topics bashing what you thought was important.
This used to be one of my favorite places to be and read...now I just feel irritated with all the rude and nasty behavior.

in view of barb's news, it leaves me wondering, how all of you have been affected by the society's policy on blood transfusions.
please tell us what your experiences have been.
i have my own story to tell.
As an UBM the blood policy effects me too.
When I had our first son I needed a blood transfusion and the Elders showed up asking my husband to be strong and not allow this. My mother had the Elders removed from the hospital.
I have since had to put medical directives in place at all of our local hospitals that I would allow blood for me, and my two sons. My parents are also the ones who would make my medical decisions if I am unable. I took all power out of my husbands hands.
My husbands family was deeply effected by the blood policy. His Aunt & Uncle had 4 sons finally they had a little girl. She needed heart surgery but because they were Jehovahs Witnesses she did not have the surgery because they weren't doing bloodless surgery then. She died very shortly after being born. My husbands mother and other family members said she probably would have died anyway...but who knows what would have happened if she would have been allowed to have the surgery. They were advised by the elders to forget about her being born and leave her in the hospital to die (this info came from my husbands oldest sister).. My husbands Aunt left the JW's after that and it tore their family apart. I know she feels guilty you can see it on her like a bright red cape. It literally weighs her down. Chrystal
our oldest son goes to a christian school and we have had a few problems since the beginning of the year.. the latest being someone in the parking lot scraoed my new truck.
they left their paint over my rear passenger wheel well.
they didn't leave a note or anything...just drove off.
Crumpet,
My truck is black and the minivan that left its mark is beige. I have been looking at all the vehicles in the parking lot. I took pictures of my truck and it was reported to the police.
If I find out who did this....she will be sorry. I am a big enough jerk that I will park right in front of her and block her from leaving until the police get there!
To have my truck repaired is $200. My deductable for insurance is $500. The school director told me to just live with it since it doesn't effect the drive ability of my truck.
I think I am going to contact the pastor of the church and tell him what happened because I am not at all happy with Miss Linda's answer!
Chrystal - of the don't mess with my truck class!

I called the director of the school and asked her if she would send out a note asking for information of who might have been parked near me on the day that it occurred....she wouldn't do it! I never saw the person. They must have been quick because I was only in the school for 10 minutes picking up our son.
I have one of 2 trucks in a sea of mini-vans....
I said to the director, you know I expect more from people who go here since this is a Christian School. This is really bad behavior! I told her the behavior in the parking lot is some of the worst on the planet. Parents zooming in at 50 mph because they are late, people parking so close to you that you have to go to the otherside of the car to put your children in their car seats...
Her answer....We are all imperfect and sinners this is why Jesus died for our sins.
I said...Well Miss Linda - My truck was perfect but I guess now its like the rest of us! Thanks a lot!

so now that the entire midwestern region seems to know about this "confidential" judicial committee, i suppose it was time to get started with it.
we arranged to have both accusers come at specific times.
i ask, please, for your level-headed, thoughtful advice.
Hello Confession,
I don't know where this incident took place. I see that you are in California. We went through something like this in my family when I was still living in California. We were told that if a person had memories that came after they turned 18 years old the person could report the crime. If the person is 18, I believe they had 3 years from that date to report the crime.
When we had this issue in our family it was over 8 years ago. Laws change. I don't know what the current laws and statutes of limitations are now.
Have you thought of asking Kimberly Norris, the attorney? I cannot remember her name on this board..
Also, you could send an anonymous letter to the police about the situation with the names and how you know what happened. They may not be able to do anything about these specific cases, but you don't know what this man has done since this incident. Others may have reported things and they weren't taken seriously because there was not enough evidence.
And, lastly...You could write a heartfelt letter to the people involved and encourage them to report this incident so that this doesn't happen again.

new that would catch your attention.. yes its true folks , my wife caught me in bed reading notes that i had written down about raymond franzes book crises of conscience.
she is a staunch follower of the borg and i have now been inactive for about 2 years.. i wrote about 30 pages of notes from this book as the only place i could get my hands on one was from the library.
i couldnt order one as i was so afraid of her finding out i was reading "apostate " material.. she asked me what i was reading and said it was er just some notes i had written .
Welcome Evergreen,
I am glad your wife listened to what you had to say. Unfortunately, when she goes to speak with the Elders they will just dismiss all of the little seeds of doubt you planted. This is what happened with my husband.
I hope your wife is openminded enough to keep listening to you about your doubts and the information you have found out.
But also, you should be prepared for trouble to come your way. The Elders won't give up on trying to have you and your wife see the truth their way.
Be careful and make calculated moves. You should read posts from Check your premises, Jgnat, and others like me who are married to witnesses. Our wins & mistakes may help you keep your marriage.

.
i recycle where i can - don't pollute intentionally - never litter - but that is about as far as i go.. how active in maintaining this planet for the future are you?.
jeff
I recycle everything I can.
I also moderate a Freecycle list because I believe very much in the Freecycle movement. I think Freecycle is great because it keeps useable items out of the landfills and helps people to obtain items they need. Not everyone even has the $1 it takes to buy an item at a thrift store.
I also don't buy make up that's tested on animals.
But I also drive a big truck and have no interest in a smaller hybrid vehicle.....Our truck is a tool for our house and lifestyle...its not a status thing. We use it to haul wood and materials etc.
